SBS has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with India’s public broadcaster, Prasar Bharati, to explore the possibility of exchanging programmes.
The MoU was signed as part of a virtual summit between PM Scott Morrison and Indian PM Narendra Modi.
“It would allow for exchange of programmes, expertise in this sector and would facilitate daily slots on TV channels in Australia for DD India, DD News and DD Sahyadri,” said India’s Foreign Secretary Harsh Vardhan Shringla.
It would also span programs in the fields of culture, education, science, entertainment, sports, news, travel, music, and arts.
The MoU will open opportunities for the two broadcasters to explore co-production, joint broadcasting of programmes, exchange personnel and organise training of staff to share knowledge on production.
Prasar Bharati, headquartered in New Delhi, was established in 1997.
